Yellow hydraulic system - Parking Brake
Operated Valve (PBOV) (ATA 32)
APPLICABILITY:
AIRBUS A300, A310 and A300-600 aircraft,
all certified models, all serial numbers, equipped with MESSIER BUGATTI parking
brake operated valves (PBOV) PN A25315-1, with a serial number between H2372
and H2989 inclusive.
The requirements of this Airworthiness
Directive (AD) do not apply to the valves marked "V" or
"VF+E" (i.e. valves on which MESSIER BUGATTI Service Bulletin
A25315-32-822 has already been embodied).
The operator is responsible for checking
that any PBOV installed for replacement purpose on the aircraft after
validation of this AD still meets the requirements of this AD.
REASONS:
Cases of leakage on the PBOV of the yellow
hydraulic system were reported on in-service A320´s. The same type of valve can
be installed on A300, A310 and A300-600 aircraft.
Leakage can be found at one or more of the
three hydraulic connections or at the vent hole.
This situation, if not corrected, could
cause the loss of the yellow hydraulic system and render the parking brake
accumulator inoperative, which would lead to the loss of the alternate braking
system and the emergency parking braking function.
The
Revision 1 of this AD requires the repair or replacement of all affected PBOV´s
by December 31, 2002.
COMPLIANCE:
1.
Within 7 days following the effective date of this AD at original issue, unless
already accomplished, identify the PBOV (PN and serial number) and, if
necessary, apply the corrective actions in accordance with AIRBUS INDUSTRIE
Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) A300-32A0441 or A310-32A2124 or A300-32A6087.
2.
Not later than December 31, 2002 repair or replace all the PBOV valves PN
A25315-1 with a serial number comprised between H2372 and H2989 inclusive, and
which are not identified with letter "V" or "VF+E", in
accordance with ASB A300-32A0441 or A310-32A2124 or A300-32A6087.
Compliance
with this action cancels the requirements of paragraph 1 of this AD.
