Brakes- Flight Manual (ATA 04, 32)

APPLICABILITY:

AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A300, A310 and A300-600 aircraft, all certified models, all serial numbers equipped with MESSIER carbon brakes, except for aircraft entirely equipped with MESSIER carbon brakes MB M318 (8 brake assemblies per aircraft).

Aircraft on which AIRBUS INDUSTRIE modification No.10848 or 10849 has been entirely embodied in production (AIRBUS INDUSTRIE Service Bulletin (SB) A300-32-0410 or A310-32-2082 or A310-32-2084 or A300-32-6050 in service) are no longer concerned by the requirements of this Airworthiness Directive (AD).

REASONS:

In order to cover the brake performance loss of different aircraft models equipped with "old generation" MESSIER carbon brakes and pending corrective measures, the original issue of this Airworthiness Directive had required the incorporation of temporary revisions (T.R.) into the Flight Manuals (AFM) of the aircraft concerned.

Revision 1 of this AD takes account of the introduction of "new generation" MESSIER carbon brakes - type MB M318 -and requires the incorporation of the new T.R.s into the AFMs of the aircraft concerned in the case of mixed installation, i.e. old generation brakes - new generation brakes.

ACTIONS:

1) On the effective date of this AD at Revision 1, unless already accomplished, incorporate the following T.R.s into the Flight Manuals of the concerned aircraft and comply with the associated performance limitations :

-A300 B2K and B4 on which modification 6409 has been embodied: A300 Flight Manual Temporary Revision 5-02-00/1 and 5-02-00/2.

- A310-304, -322, -324, -308, -204 and -222 Var 100 with a maximum take-off weight lower than or equal to 157 T. and on which modification 5443 has been embodied: A310 Flight Manual Temporary Revision 5-04-00/3 and 5-04-00/06.

-A310-200 on which modification 6591 has been embodied: A310 Flight Manual Temporary Revision 5-04-00/3 and 5-04-00/06.

- A300 B4-601 on which modification 5670 has been embodied: A300-600 Flight Manual Temporary Revision 5-04-00/2 and 5-04-00/03.

2) The AFM Temporary Revisions mentioned above are no longer applicable in accordance with this AD when the eight brake assemblies of the concerned aircraft are equipped with carbon brakes MB M318.
