FIRE BALLOON - PROPANE CYLINDERS - REDUCER FOR PILOT
FLAME - INSPECTION
Applicability: Schroeder fire balloons VA 50- and VA 70-propane cylinders
(manufacturing date up to July 2001) equipped with pressure reducer for pilot
flame, brand Lorch, as well as on Worthington cylinders (manufacturing date up
to July 2001).
Effective date: August 06, 2001
Compliance: Required as indicated in LBA AD 2001-229.
Remarks: The compliance of
this AD must be recorded in Aircraft Logbook, where applicable the requirements
of this AD must be integrated into Aircraft Technical Documentation. Address

Subject:
Installation/Modification
of a filter and a flow reducer (protection against pipe break) between pressure
reducer and cylinder valve
Reason:
The
gas supply of the pilot flame at the entrance into the pressure reducer can
break of due to rough and improper handling of the propane cylinder.
Action:
Installation/Modification
of a filter and a flow reducer in accordance with the instructions given in the
Technical Note of the manufacturer.
Compliance:
a) The
modification must be performed at latest on September 31, 2001.
b)
Perform a special inspection program before each flight until the modification
has been done.

Accomplishment
and log book entry:
Action
to be accomplished by an approved service station and to be checked and entered
in the log book by a licensed inspector.
Holders
of affected aircraft registered in Germany have to observe the following:
As a
result of the a.m. deficiencies, the airworthiness of the aircraft is affected
to such an extent that after the expiry of the a.m. dates the aircraft may be
operated only after proper accomplishment of the prescribed actions. In the
interest of aviation safety outweighing the interest of the receiver in a
postponement of the prescribed actions, the immediate compliance with this AD
is to be directed

An
appeal to this notice may be raised within a period of one month following
notification. Appeals must be submitted in writing or registered at the
Luftfahrt-Bundesamt, Hermann-Blenk-Str. 26, 38108 Braunschweig.
