Deicing - Revision of Aircraft Flight
Manual (ATA 04, 30)
1. APPLICABILITY:
ATR 42 aircraft
models -200/ -300/ -320/ -400/ -500.
2. REASON:
The purpose of this Airworthiness
Directive (AD) is to modify the Aircraft Flight Manual so that the crew
activate the wing and tail deicing system as soon as ice accretion is detected
on the aircraft, and as long as this later is not exited from icing conditions.
This AD takes into account the
requirements of FAA AD 99-19-10.
3. ACTIONS:
Within 15 days after the effective date of
this AD, revise the approved Aircraft Flight Manual by incorporating the
following modification. This may be accomplished by inserting a copy of this AD
in the Aircraft Flight Manual.
- In chapter Normal Procedures - Icing
conditions:
Replace the sentence "At first visual
indication of ice accretion and as long as ice builds up on the airframe, the
following procedure must be applied." by "At first visual indication
of ice accretion and as long as atmospheric icing conditions exist, the
following procedure must be applied.".
Note: The following AFM's comply with the
requirements of this AD:
-ATR42-200, -300, -320 models: TR (Temporary
Revision) No. 41 dated October 2000,
-ATR42-400, -500 models: RN (Normal
Revision) No. 5 dated May 2000.
