APPLIANCE - THIRD OCCUPANT SEATS (ATA 25) - INSPECTION
Applicability: SICMA AERO SEAT third occupant seats 133 series with references (P/N) and serial numbers (S/N) as following:
1330622-070, from S/N 1 to S/N 212
1330622-070-1, from S/N 1 to S/N 212
1330622-070-2, from S/N 1 to S/N 6
1330622-100-..., from S/N 1 to S/N 13
1330622V100-1, from S/N 1 to S/N 16.
Effective date: April 20, 2000
Compliance: Required as indicated in DGAC AD 2000-042(AB).
Remarks: The compliance of this AD must be recorded in Aircraft Logbook, where applicable the requirements of this AD must be integrated into Aircraft Technical Documentation. Third occupant seat head rest locking point (ATA 25)
1. APPLICABILITY:
SICMA AERO SEAT third occupant seats 133 series with references (P/N) and serial numbers (S/N) as following:
1330622-070, from S/N 1 to S/N 212
1330622-070-1, from S/N 1 to S/N 212
1330622-070-2, from S/N 1 to S/N 6
1330622-100-..., from S/N 1 to S/N 13
1330622V100-1, from S/N 1 to S/N 16.
These seats have been manufactured before December first, 1990 (refer to the seat identification placard).
These seats can be found on AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A319, A320, A321 aircraft.
2. REASONS:
Absence of one of the two headrest bushings installation may lead to disengagement of the headrest from the seal assy under high energy braking.
3. COMPLIANCE:
3.1. Before December 31, 2000, inspect both sides of seat headrest installation as per paragraph 2 of service bulletin SICMA AERO SEAT 133-25-006 (referenced SB) for presence and proper positioning of bushings P/N 133120-04, and install Mecanindus pins P/N GPMECAE2-5x5 in order to secure bushings.
3.2. Record the accomplishment of the referenced SB on the seat identification placards, as indicated in paragraph 2.C of this SB.
3.3. Should one (or both) bushings P/N 133120-04 be found missing, remove the seat assy from the aircraft and send it to SICMA AERO SEAT facility for refurbishing.
3.4. From the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive (AD), the installation -even temporary- of a seat which is not in compliance with this AD is not allowed.
