ENGINE - FUEL FILTER (ATA 73) - INSPECTION
Applicability: CFMI turbofan engines, CFM56-3/-3B/-3C all types installed on BOEING 737-300/-400/-500 or other aeroplanes.
Effective date: September 9, 1999.
Compliance: Required as indicated in DGAC AD 1999-245(B).

Fuel filter cover attachment parts (ATA 73)
1. APPLICABILITY:
This Airworthiness Directive applies to CFMI turbofan engines, CFM56-3/-3B/-3C all types installed on BOEING 737-300/-400/-500 or other aeroplanes.
2.REASON:
The fuel filter cover is maintained with six bolts torqued in helicoll inserts, loose inserts due to an overtorque led to heavy fuel loss in flight on one plane.
3. MANDATORY ACTIONS:
No later than the next A check, perform once all instructions of Service Bulletin CFM56-3 No. 73-126 dated August 07, 1998 (or later issue). For fuel pumps already inspected according to CFMI AOW No. 277/97 of December 12, 1997 or CFMI AOW 97CFM56-5-22 of December 12, 1997 ; there is no need to perform a new inspection.
NOTE: At every other opening of fuel filter cover, strictly apply AMM procedures.
